How to read the material
Record and interpretation are kept distinct.
The site borrows the textures of cataloguing, excavation reporting, conservation, provenance research, and source criticism because those methods are good at making limits visible. A record may establish a date, measurement, observation, or custody event; it does not automatically establish an explanation.
- Archive records belong to the Ravensworth collection.
- Cataloguer’s notes identify relationships, limits, and unanswered questions inside that world.
- Historical reference points provide context and are never presented as proof of a Ravensworth event, object, or interpretation.
