Crate AR-1188
The bow's later history survives as a small gathering of papers: a field notebook, a bonded-store ledger, a guarded trade note, a casualty schedule, and an unsigned memorandum that refuses to bridge the remaining gap.

The record narrows the bow's later custody. It does not close it.

Field no. 137 is found in Chamber 3.
Cordelia Ravensworth records a case containing two curved limbs, a gilt-wrapped grip, and a coiled cord. The entry gives the object the field number that later appears in the storage papers.

The case, limbs, and cord are packed together.
The notebook records the assembly as 137/137a/b, crated in the house store pending the season's consignment. It is a field record of packing, not yet a bill of lading.

AR-1188 enters the bonded-store ledger.
An Aethelgard Roads register lists one crate marked AR-1188, containing objects 137/137a/137b. It is lodged in bond pending instructions, with later entries renewing rent and repeatedly noting that no instructions were received.

A dealer hears a rumor and declines to pursue it.
A private trade memorandum mentions a large bow said to lie in bond at Aethelgard Roads. Its writer cannot obtain a name, a bill of lading, or a clear paper, and explicitly declines to pursue the matter.

Depot 4 is inundated; the crate is listed as unrecovered.
The final ledger entry records the flood. An average adjusters' schedule then lists lot 206, marked AR-1188, as submerged and unrecovered while survey remains pending.

The papers refuse to fill the intervening years.
The unsigned covering memorandum says plainly that nothing in the file accounts for the interval between the 1936 note and the flood. It makes no proposal for what occurred in those eighteen years.
